Dustin Johnson wasn’t too great on Sunday. After entering tied for first, he shot a 74. However, Johnson was just good enough to win the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am at Pebble Beach.

In the first three days, Johnson shot 64, 68 and 64, respectively. That quality play gave him enough cushion to beat David Duval and J.B. Holmes by one stroke. Johnson’s win was worth approximately .12 million. Duval and Holmes took home 5,600 for their efforts.

While Johnson wasn’t great, he was clutch. On the 18th hole, Johnson’s birdie gave him the win.

“All you can ask for,” said Johnson, “is a chance to win on the last hole.”

Johnson got his wish and took advantage of the situation.

As for the rest of the field, Duval was one of the main stories of the weekend. The former #1 golfer in the world has been very quiet in recent years but he almost stormed back with a final round 69. It was have been Duval’s first win since 2001.

Fred Couples is 50 years old. On the PGA Tour, that’s old. On the Championship Tour, he’s a young buck. On Sunday, Couples won his first tournament on the 50-and-over tour at the ACE Group Classic.

Couples and Tommy Armour III were far ahead of the field. Armour shot a 61 on Sunday to finish 16-under, however Couples’ 64 on Sunday was good enough to finish 17-under and one shot better than Armour.

This was Couples first win of any kind since 2003.

Remarked Couples: “That’s a long time. I am very excited that I won and I’ll keep trying to win out here.”

Couples won 0,000 for his first place showing, while Armour took home 0,80. Scott Hoch, who finished third, earned 5,200.

In Couples’ first tournament on the Champions Tour, he finished in second place in the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai. Expect Couples to be high on leaderboard in most Champions Tour events.

Tiger Woods decided to emerge from three months of hibernation today to deliver an apologetic message regarding his marital indiscretions. Personally, I was wondering why he had to make a public apology. The incident was between Tiger and his family. As someone who is more of an admirer of Tiger’s golfing talents than a “fan,” he certainly didn’t owe me an apology. I could care less other than feeling sorry the whole incident(s) happened in the first place.

Tiger Woods / Photo: Newscom

Nevertheless, I understand a lot of people have invested in Tiger’s “empire” and he did owe them some kind of explanation for the bizarre turn of events that led him into seclusion, rehab and—embarrassingly—the front page of the supermarket tabloids after a Thanksgiving Day 2009 car crash. I just thought it could have been better handled from the start. And from there, it’s really none of our business.

ESPN.com was doing a poll as to whether Tiger’s apology was sincere or insincere. Kind of like when Michael Vick went on 60 Minutes to talk about why he killed dogs for fun. I think Tiger is sincerely sorry for his actions, but the way he delivered his message was a disaster. Tiger has always tried to be a private person, protecting any emotion about his personal life. So today he seemed extremely robotic and uncomfortable. During some parts of the “speech,” it almost seemed as though what was written on the paper in front of him also included commands like “Pause and stare at camera,” “Sound angry” and “Pretend to be choked up.” It was either that or Tiger is the worst public speaker ever. It was difficult to watch. As long as the whole thing was staged, you would’ve thought he would’ve been coached up to present it differently. If you haven’t seen it yet, save yourself the agony and just read the transcript.

I won’t get into the whole “athletes are role models” discussion here. But I’ve been around professional athletes long enough (and I’ve read enough books written by athletes) to know this kind of thing (marital infidelity), sadly, goes on all the time in professional sports. Obviously, it’s the wrong road to go down. But it also doesn’t give us the right to judge. Tiger did what he did. He got caught. He’s responsible for his actions. He has to pay the price now. His image is ruined. His marriage and family life as he knew it are in serious jeopardy. And that’s just the beginning of the bad. There’s just nothing good about this situation except to hope it gets better—that he and his family can pull their lives back together. So, if we insist on being involved, maybe we can spend our time being hopeful and prayerful for the guy rather than bashing him.

Looking back at a weekend of televised sports …

Best featureToday is the 30th anniversary of the Miracle on Ice, and the story of the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team beating the then-Soviet Union on its way to a gold medal never ever gets old. We’ve heard all the stories and seen all the images a thousand times — coach Herb Brooks’ speeches, goalie Jim Craig draped in an American flag looking for his father in the stands, the victory against Russia, then against Finland, the players standing as one on the medal podium. And the stories never grow tiresome; they still raise goose bumps.

During Sunday’s Olympics coverage on NBC, Al Michaels — who called the 1980 tournament for ABC, highlighted by his famous “Do you believe in miracles? Yes!” – hosted a stirring taped piece about the event. On the ice at the hockey arena (now known as the Herb Brooks Arena) in Lake Placid, N.Y., Michaels had a conversation with Craig, captain Mike Eruzione and scoring star Mark Johnson in between highlights. Other than the revelation that Johnson played much of the tournament with a separated shoulder, there was nothing new in the piece. But retelling the story with four men who had such an impact — and, yes, Michaels is among those four — was more than enough to make the piece special.

Why does it still resonate so strongly? Eruzione has a theory as good as any. Depending on one’s age, people remember exactly where they were on D-Day, or 9-11 or when John F. Kennedy was shot. And they remember where they were when the United States beat Russia.

“Of all those events, that one is a good memory,” Eruzione said. “That day was a good thing.”

More miraclesESPN’s Outside the Lines also looked back Sunday at the Miracle on Ice and actually had a few new nuggets in its piece. The show talked to former M*A*S*H star Jamie Farr, who (and it’s verified with archive footage) scored a ticket for the game and chanted “U-S-A! U-S-A!” in the middle of a group of Russian officials and fans. The piece also revealed that goalie Jim Craig was briefly knocked out during a goalmouth scrum in the second period and, for the first time I’ve ever seen, had an interview with the Finnish referee who called the game.

Biggest questionSo why was the U.S-Canada hockey game on MSNBC Sunday night instead of NBC? Simple: NBC was going to get better ratings showing figure skating on NBC than had it showed hockey. Also, there’s this: NBC’s prime-time show is designed to move from event to event and offer a smorgasbord of events. It doesn’t want to have a whole three-hour block tied up by one sport.

Best of the OlympicsHeaded into Sunday, more than half of all Americans (162 million) have watched the Vancouver Olympics on NBC and its sister stations. That’s 5 million more than watched the first nine days of the 2006 Winter Games. While there have been complaints about what NBC is showing live and what it is showing on tape, the network’s coverage has been outstanding. Here’s the best of what I’ve liked so far:

Best play-by-play announcers: Mike Emrick (hockey) is not only the best play-by-play announcer in these Olympics, but is the best pound-for-pound play-by-play announcer in all of sports. Other Olympic favorites: Tim Ryan (alpine skiing), Ted Robinson (short-track speed skating) and Al Trautwig (cross country and biathlon).

Best analysts: What’s most impressive about NBC’s coverage is just how good all the analysts have been. All have been very viewer-friendly, which is remarkable because they are talking about sports most of us watch only once every four years. No one has been better at explaining his sport, and predicting strategy and technique than curling analyst Don Duguid. He has been my No. 1 star among broadcasters in these Olympics. The best of the rest include Scott Hamilton (figure skating), Ed Olczyk (hockey) and Christin Cooper (Alpine skiing).

Best studio team: Watching hockey’s Mike Milbury and Jeremy Roenick needle one another has been a blast. Roenick started off slow, but once Milbury started to engage him in playful teasing, the two have become can’t-miss TV.

Most weepy reactionIs there crying in broadcasting? Apparently so. Golf Channel analyst Charlie Rymer was brought to tears on camera as he talked about Tiger Woods’ mea culpa Friday. Personally, I find it hard to be broken up by listening to a guy apologize for the things Woods has done, but Rymer has a right to react however he wants, just as critics should be allowed to yell and wag a finger as they question Tiger’s sincerity. But Rymer’s blubbering only adds to the popular belief that the Golf Channel is a shill for Woods.

Speaking of Woods, my take is no matter what he said, he was going to be criticized by some that he didn’t say enough or didn’t seem sincere enough. When you think about it, what more could he have really said?

However, my beef was with the two times he showed real emotion and anger. One was when he criticized those who suggested his wife, Elin, had attacked him. The other was when he scolded photographers for trying to take photos of his family. First, if you’re going to wait three months to say anything – remember, his car “accident” happened on Thanksgiving night — you can’t be upset when people speculate what might have happened. Secondly, Woods is to be blamed for those following him and his family. If he had acted like a decent father and husband, Woods would’ve have been playing golf Friday instead of making apologies. All of this — every single bit — is Woods’ fault.

Best moveSmart decision by ESPN’s Sports Reporters to include a female voice – in this case, ESPN’s Hannah Storm — on its panel as it discussed the Tiger Woods scandal. Storm offered the perspective of not only a female, but a mother. However, New York Times columnist Bill Rhoden offered up the most interesting thoughts as he said: “(Woods) was apologizing to his sponsors. And to that extent, the troublesome thing is he still seems to be addicted to his image — and that’s problematic.” Best special guestNot only did Wayne Gretzky attend Saturday’s late-night curling match between Canadian men and Great Britain, but he offered a pleasant surprise by joining CNBC’s broadcast for a few minutes. At one point, curling analyst Colleen Jones asked Gretzky what shot the Brits should make, and Gretzky responded by saying he was a curling novice.

“You’re the Great One, for crying out loud,” Jones said.

Gretzky deadpanned: “I used to be.”

Three things that popped into my head1. Prediction: Jaromir Jagr will play in the NHL next season, and he will still be a major force.2. Prediction: Getting Antawn Jamison makes the Cavs the team to beat in the NBA’s Eastern Conference, but the Lakers remain the team to beat in all of the NBA.3. It’s great that IOC president Jacques Rogge promises to take all the steps necessary to make luge safe. But his vigilance is coming about two weeks too late.

———————

Looking back at the best and worst from a weekend of televised sports …

Biggest gameThe USA-Canada hockey game Sunday was special; hockey at its absolute best and most thrilling. The game was well-played, and NBC’s coverage, as expected with the masterful Mike Emrick on the microphone, was as good as the game. For hockey fans, it’s the latest example of why we consider it the best sport in the world. It was a tournament and a gold-medal game that was more than anyone could’ve hoped for.

So, this isn’t meant to rain on any parades. But …

Lets get over the notion that hockey games such as Sunday will be a major boost for the NHL in the United States and lead to a big blast in popularity. It’s really too bad. But if the 1980 Miracle on Ice, which came at a time when the greatest player in the world (Wayne Gretzky) was starting his fabulous career, couldn’t do it, nothing can. However, that doesn’t mean the NHL should even consider dropping out of the Olympics. Any extra exposure is good exposure.

As ESPN Sports Reporters host John Saunders, a Canadian whose favorite sport is hockey, said: “Hockey will always be sports’ ugly step-sister. Even those who don’t really care seem to go out of their way to dislike the game. So if there’s a chance to grab the spotlight every four years, hold on like Ryan Miller holds on to the puck. And maybe, just maybe, people will see the step-sister is something to see.”

Olympic wrap-upThe Olympics ended Sunday and, overall, NBC gets an A for its coverage. Many complained about so many events being shown on a delayed basis, but it seemed like the best strategy for NBC to edit long events and show them in prime time. That allowed NBC to offer a variety of sports in a neatly trimmed prime-time package. In today’s Internet world, it was virtually impossible to avoid some results before watching, but it seemed a better alternative than sitting through dozens of figure skaters or skiers just to get to the six or seven that everyone wanted to see. Plus, you can’t argue with the viewership numbers. Heading into Sunday’s final day, 185 million Americans had watched the Games, which was only 2 million fewer than watched the Salt Lake City Games in 2002. When Sunday’s numbers come in later Monday, these Games will challenge the 1994 Lillehammer Games, which was fueled by the Nancy Kerrigan-Tonya Harding soap opera and had 204 million viewers.

Sport of the dayMy man down in Lakewood Ranch, Dick Vitale, isn’t going to like this, but doesn’t it seem as if interest in college basketball is waning a bit? Why is that?

Well, the college hoops season starts smack-dab in the middle of college football, which seems to be growing in popularity each year. Meantime, the NFL has grown into a monster and now the Super Bowl has slid into February when it used to be played in mid January. This year, the Olympics have hogged the sports spotlight for the past two weeks and, through all of this, college basketball, despite ESPN’s best efforts, has been lost in the shuffle.

But nothing has hurt college basketball more than the one-and-done rule, which allows players to leave for the NBA after one college season. These days, there are simply too many players we don’t know because we haven’t seen them long enough. By the time we become familiar with the college stars and their stories, they’ve already moved on to the NBA. Except for the diehards, fans now just wait until the conference tournaments and NCAA Tournament to start paying attention.

So now is when college basketball needs to pick up steam. The Olympics are over. Baseball’s opening day and the NFL draft are still weeks away. The Masters isn’t for another month. For the first time this season, college basketball will get some attention.

Best broadcasting teamThe game of the day in college basketball Saturday was supposed to be Syracuse-Villanova, but the Orange crushed Villanova for an easy 95-77 victory before the largest on-campus crowd in NCAA regular-season history — 34,616 at Syracuse’s Carrier Dome. But the game did offer what has become one of the better college hoops broadcast teams in the business — ESPN’s Dan Shulman with Bob Knight and Jay Bilas. Knight and Bilas tend to think everything is “the greatest” or “the best,” but if you can get past all the superfluous praise, the analysis is solid. It’s especially interesting to listen to Knight’s take on a game. While he is one of the game’s greatest coaches, Knight never really let anyone behind his coaching curtain when he was on the bench. Listening to him now lends some insight to what he was like as a coach.

Speaking of Knight, this was interesting. About Syracuse’s ferocious zone defense, Knight said, “(It’s) the best zone defense I’ve ever seen.”

Team of the dayESPN’s Baseball Tonight crew spent a portion of the show Sunday talking about the Rays, including an interview with third baseman Evan Longoria from Port Charlotte. Reporter Tim Kurkjian, in talking about Longoria’s maturity and how to conduct oneself, said, “This guy gets it. He really understands it.”

The general consensus among the Baseball Tonight crew was that the Rays will challenge for the American League crown, specifically because the bullpen will be anchored by a reliable closer in Rafael Soriano. But the consensus also was this will be Carl Crawford’s last season in Tampa Bay.

Three things that popped into my head1. Aren’t the Olympics’ opening ceremonies always better than the closing ceremonies?2. As great as the two hockey games between the USA and Canada were, how cool would it have been to see these teams play a best-of-seven series?3. Athlete I’ve been impressed with over the past three weeks: race car driver Danica Patrick, who has shown a great sense of humility as she dips her toes into NASCAR.

Sunday’s USA-Canada gold medal hockey game was the most-watched hockey game in the United States in 30 years. Canada’s 3-2 overtime victory averaged 27.6-million viewers, the most since Feb. 24, 1980 when an average of 34.2 million watched the United States Olympic hockey team defeated Finland to capture the gold medal. By comparison, the average audience for the Miracle on Ice game when the United States beat the then-Soviet Union on Feb. 22, 1980 was 34.2 million. That game was shown on a taped-delay basis.

Meantime, the game was the most-watched television program ever in Canada with an average audience of 16.6 million. Nearly half the country on average watched the entire game and an incredible 80 percent of Canadians (26.5 million) watched at least a portion of the game.

Sunday’s U.S. audience peaked at 34.8-million viewers from 5:30-6 p.m., when the USA’s Zach Parise sent the game to overtime by scoring with 24.4 seconds left in regulation and then, Canada’s Sidney Crosby scored seven minutes into overtime.

The average audience of 27.6 million for Sunday’s game was more than watched the 2010 Grammy Awards (25.9 million), the 2010 Rose Bowl (24 million), Game 4 of last year’s World Series (22.8 million), the 2009 NCAA men’s basketball championship (17.6 million) and this year’s Daytona 500 (16 million).

Sunday’s game drew a 15.2 rating and a 30 share, meaning 15.2 percent of all U.S. households and 30 percent of all televisions on at the time were tuned into the game.

NBC Olympic host Bob Costas said, “That’s one of the greatest sporting events I’ve ever seen.”

Looking back at a weekend of televised sports …

Best filmDo not miss HBO’s latest sports documentary — Magic & Bird: A Courtship of Rivals. The 90-minute film chronicles the lives of legendary NBA stars Magic Johnson and Larry Bird, but it’s so much more than just highlights of their remarkable careers and classic battles against one another. The film examines what was originally a frosty relationship between the two, mostly because Bird refused to be buddy-buddy with such a fierce rival. It also uncovers Bird’s enigmatic personality, going back to his poor upbringing in rural Indiana, the suicide of his father and his intense shyness. Johnson was the polar opposite — outgoing, engaging, charismatic, who went from being “Earvin” to “Magic” when he arrived in Hollywood. The two eventually formed a close bond out of mutual respect for each other’s talent and dedication.

The film also doesn’t dodge the racial issue as Bird and the Celtics were seen as the favorite team for white people, while African-Americans rooted for the Lakers.

It’s not until Johnson learned in 1991 he had HIV when we see just how much Bird and Johnson cared for one another. It’s fascinating stuff with insightful and honest interviews from not only Bird and Johnson, but journalist Bryant Gumbel, celebrity and Johnson’s friend Arsenio Hall, and former NBA stars Kevin McHale, Michael Cooper, Cedric “Cornbread” Maxwell and many others. The documentary will be on throughout the month, but you can see it this week on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m. and Thursday at 7 p.m.

Worst ideaThe NCAA is seriously considering expanding its basketball tournament field from 65 teams to 96. Television would love it, and so would all the coaches who would keep their jobs because they would make the tournament every year. But does anyone else think this even resembles a good idea? I might argue that 65 teams are too many. This isn’t Little League, where everyone has to play and we all go for snow cones after the game.

On Sunday’s Sports Reporters on ESPN, Boston Globe columnist Bob Ryan said: “More is less. And if this happens, it will prove one of my favorite theories in life — there is nothing good in life, nothing, that can’t and won’t be messed up. The tournament is 99.8 percent perfect. The other 0.2 percent is the play-in game. … There is no good to be gained from this.”

Most interesting coverageYou might recall last summer when ESPN came under fire for, at first, refusing to report a civil suit in which a Nevada woman accused Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of sexual assault. Roethlisberger, once again, is being accused of sexual misconduct, and this time, ESPN is taking a different, more aggressive tact. It has dispatched ace reporter Kelly Naqi to Milledgeville, Ga., the site of the latest allegations. There is a difference between the cases. In the first situation, a civil suit was filed without a police report and, at the time, ESPN said it would not report a story based on nothing more than a civil suit. This time, the police are investigating.

Nicest touchHere’s an example of what Rays radio announcers Andy Freed and Dave Wills do really well. Calling Sunday’s spring game between the Rays and Phillies, the two casually started talking about pitchers when they hit. Even though interleague play is still months away, the two discussed how Rays manager Joe Maddon wants his pitchers, when they bat, to face at least five pitches in an at-bat. Over the course of a game, that could mean at least 15 pitches. That might help drive the opposing pitcher out of a game.Freed and Wills dropped some useful information in the middle of a ho-hum spring game and made us smarter. That’s good stuff, and Freed and Wills are especially good at it. And that is so much better than when they insert inside jokes and playful insults that we don’t understand about technicians, front-office folks, friends and others whom we don’t know or care about.

Worst snubCanadian Olympic star Sidney Crosby has been a good ambassador for the NHL, but he fanned on a great shot to help the league last week. Crosby turned down an offer to read the Top 10 list on the Late Show with David Letterman when the Penguins were in New York. Crosby’s plate is full of obligations and he does make himself available to the media. But a chance to share the gospel on a show such as Letterman’s is something Crosby needed to do, especially with the small window the NHL has to build on the momentum created by the Olympics.

Best ideaDidn’t the Olympics prove that no-touch icing is a rule the NHL needs to adopt right now? During Hockey Night in Canada coverage Saturday night, analyst and longtime no-touch-icing proponent Don Cherry showed at least 20 clips of players who suffered serious injuries racing for an icing touch-up and crashing into the boards. The league needs to implement no-touch icing now before a player is paralyzed or worse over something that is easily preventable.

Best analyst of the weekendThe best analysts in sports broadcasting are the ones who make you feel as if you’re sitting next to your buddy in your living room talking about the game. They don’t play favorites. They don’t care who they offend. They just call it like they see it. The difference, of course, is the analysts know more than your average buddy.

A perfect example of this was ABC analyst Jeff Van Gundy, who called Sunday’s Magic-Lakers game. Van Gundy tore into officials, was quick to point out the flaws and mistakes of both teams, showed genuine enthusiasm when he saw something good and, as always, wasn’t afraid to disagree with his partners. Van Gundy tells you what he thinks, not what he thinks you or anyone else wants to hear. You might disagree with some his analysis, but you know you’re getting a straight shooter.

Most annoying halftimeCan someone at ESPN please turn off Hubert Davis’ microphone when he starts laughing? When the college basketball analyst talks, he’s solid. But when Davis laughs (which is a little too often), he’s so loud and distracting that you stop paying attention to anything else being said. In fact, halftime of Saturday’s Duke-North Carolina game sounded like a bad celebrity roast with all the cackling from Davis, Bob Knight, Jay Bilas and Digger Phelps. And it wasn’t the first time that this crew started cutting it up and turning the halftime into a complete waste of the viewer’s time with jokes and wisecracks that aren’t that funny.

Speaking of college analysts — and this goes for what seems like every single analyst out there — isn’t it strange that North Carolina coach Roy Williams gets virtually all of the credit for when his Tar Heels have done well and virtually none of the blame for how bad they have been this season?

Three things that popped into my head1. If the USF men can win two games in the Big East basketball tournament, they might deserve to get into the NCAA Tournament. But something tells me they’re going to have win three to make it. And that might be impossible because Syracuse would be the Bulls’ third opponent.2. Does anyone pay attention to tennis’ Davis Cup anymore?3. Something to look forward to — the latest in ESPN’s “30 for 30” series. Winning Time: Reggie Miller vs. the New York Knicks, which looks at the Pacers sharpshooter and his rivalry with the Knicks in the 1995 playoffs, debuts Sunday at 9 p.m.

Heading into the 2010 Mitsubishi Electric Championship, Tom Watson was 0-for-34 lifetime in tournaments in Hawaii. However, this time being 22-under was good enough to win the first first Champions Tour tournament of the season. Coming in second place was Fred Couples, who was playing for the first time on the Champions Tour.

Watson, who is 60 years old, savored this victory.

“I don’t think I’ll have too many more,” said Watson, “but I had this one.”

Couples finished 21-under, while Michael Allen was 18-under and Tom Lehman was 16-under. Couples’ 8-under 64 kept the pressure on Watson but the 50-year-old couldn’t quite get over the hump.

Couples likes the idea of the Champions Tour.

Remarked Couples: “It’s just a different deal. Everyone seems like a winner out here.”

The Mitsubishi Electric Championship, which is played in Kaupulehu-Kona, Hawaii, was Watson’s 13th win on the Masters Tour — and his first since April of 2008. He received 5,000 for winning the event.

Phil Mickelson hadn’t said anything about the Tiger Woods situation — until Wednesday. In a press conference before the Farmers Insurance Open, Mickelson said that he’s looking forward to Tiger’s eventual return.

Said Mickelson: “The game of golf needs him to come back. I mean, it’s important for him to come back and be a part of the sport. But right now he’s got a lot more important things going on in his life.”

Of course, Mickelson is talking about Tiger’s personal life that has seen him get in a mysterious car accident … not to mention the revealing of numerous extramarital affairs. As it stands, Tiger’s marriage to his wife Elin is reportedly on life support.

“Amy and I are good friends with both Tiger and Elin,” said Mickelson, “and we care deeply about how this turns out.”

With Tiger on an indefinite leave, this could be a banner year for the 39-year-old Mickelson. He’s currently ranked second in the world behind Tiger and could very well pass Tiger up, especially if Tiger is out of action for a while.

What does Mickelson think about becoming the new number one golfer in the world?

“I’m just excited to play golf,” Mickelson said, dodging the question. “I’m excited to get back into competition and be a part of this.”

Back in June, golfer Ken Green’s life was changed forever when he was involved in a RV accident. His brother and girlfriend were killed, while Green had the lower portion of his right leg amputated. Earlier this week, tragedy struck again when Green’s son, Hunter Green, was found deceased in his dorm at SMU.

The 21-year-old student had battled health problems and police don’t suspect foul play.

On his blog, Ken Green talked about his son’s death.

Said Green: “Well, today is another sad day. I’m sorry to say that my youngest son Hunter has passed. His journey in life has ended and i can’t tell you how difficult understanding this is.”

On the PGA tour, Green won five times. His most recent win was in April of 1989 when he won the KMart Greater Greensboro Open. He played on the Champions Tour in 2009 prior to his accident and made in excess of 0,000 in the 11 tournaments he played in.

Despite the fact Green lost part of his right leg, he has vowed to return to the sport of golf.
